Some FREE Brow Techniques (Just because I love you)

There is a recurring phenomenon that happens in my makeup chair with almost every single client. Every. Time.

Without fail, as we are doing one of the steps in the makeup application process, my client will ask a question about what I'm doing and why. I will begin explaining and then they will quickly chime in with an apology for their "lack" of makeup knowledge.

They are almost ashamed or embarrassed that they do not have an innate knowledge of the in's and out's of beauty. If it is a beauty "basic," there is this pressure that you should just know how to do said technique, and do it very well at that. They feel like they are the one person who hasn't found their perfect products and mastered their perfect application...all on their own.

Want to know what I always say in response? "I'll put money on it that I am probably horrible at your job!"

Seriously, though. If I tried for .2 seconds to do your job, the computer would crash, the printer would be spewing paper, the kids would be crying, the buns would be burnt in the oven...you get it. This is just what I happen to do for a living, so OF COURSE, I know how to apply makeup in all ways, in all colors, in all techniques...maybe even with my eyes closed! (I think I just found my upcoming blog post).

There is an insane pressure that is placed upon womxn that you should just KNOW what you're doing with makeup. That the blending brush should just be an extension of your pointer finger. That you should be able to transition a makeup look from the office to date night because you read an article on it, once.

I'm here to tell you, it's A OK that you have no idea what you're doing with makeup. That you have no idea how to make your eyes look wider or how to quickly "polish" up your look.

So, hopefully all of the above did a decent job of reducing your beauty shame.

PLUS, I'm here to help. This is WHAT I DO. I am a brow and beauty expert and I am here to gift you with free beauty knowledge. So, let's talk about today's lesson.

Filling-in Eyebrows at Home, 101!

Well, thank you Susan for making me feel like the brow guru.
