For Emily, artistry has always been a part of her world. Daughter to a painter and granddaughter to a hairdresser, paints and pencils were always in her hands -- unless they were already filled with lipsticks and hair brushes. She started shaping eyebrows at the age of 11 with removal products from the local beauty supply store and to the surprise of many… she did it well.
Despite these innate abilities, the inception of Emily Mercer Beauty was delayed until the Fall of 2014 as she transitioned from a soul-sucking life in corporate America. In these early years of business, Emily was on the track to becoming a makeup artist and hair stylist for TV and movies. She earned her Cosmetology license hoping to gain as many skills as possible for this ever evolving industry, but her clients had their own ideas that took Emily down a completely different path.
With consistent feedback from makeup clients raving about their sculpted eyebrows following a makeup service, Emily was urged to consider learning semi-permanent tattoo options. Microblading and other techniques were becoming incredibly popular, and numerous clients explained that they "wouldn't trust anyone else" despite Emily never having tattooed a day in her life.
Without hesitation Emily transitioned immediately into tattoo school following her Cosmetology graduation.
Emily trained in numerous types of cosmetic tattoo, and after completing school and implementing these services into her business, she found a technique that provided the natural, soft eyebrows that are now her signature: machine hair stroke tattoo.
Through her 9 years of business and 7 licenses she has earned, Emily has narrowed down her focus to eyebrows and makeup artistry, creating finished looks that are flattering, unique, and enhancing to each clients' unique features.
Emily prides herself on creating an environment for her clients that leaves them feeling seen and elevated. When she is outside of her shop, Emily chooses to follow a lifestyle consisting of self care with mindfulness at the forefront, filled with infinite amounts of goofiness and laughter. On a daily basis she prioritizes her lifelong work of unlearning the narratives of our world, understanding her own privileges and identities, and continuing on the path of attaining uncomfortable and necessary personal growth. She has a love for movement, delicious home cooked meals, and last but not least, her angel cat Keke.
